Running and Race Recaps

I love to run and participate in local races! While I could go out of town for bigger runs, I like sleeping in my own bed, showering in my own shower, and really enjoy supporting local churches, schools, scholarships, and causes.

Here are the races I’ve done. To read my thoughts and reactions, click the linked posts. Some of these are formal “race recap” posts, and others are more focused on daily life and how I just “happened” to run in a race that day. If you’re a new runner in the Pee Dee (or new to the area) and want to know more about specific races, e-mail me at proudpatriot2007(at)yahoo(dot)com.

1st Annual Camp RAE 5K: Spur-of-the-moment, no training sign up to do a good deed for the church I attended at the time. I don’t even remember my time!

6th Annual Polar Bear 5K: This race is what truly started my love of running.

McLeod Sports Medicine 10K: First 10K, one of my big goals as a runner. Plus, I was 1st Place, 20-24 Female

1st Annual Race for Taylor: Diagnosed with severe anemia 10 days later, and this race was a real scare that something was wrong. I ran a 33:15.

Arthritis Foundation 5K: First 5K after recovering from anemia and first sub-30 minute 5K (29:29).

2nd Annual Camp RAE 5K

Pecan Festival 10K

2nd Annual Florence Museum 5K

1st Annual Bayler’s Birthday Bash 5K (Bishopville, SC): One of my favorite races ever. I wish I could’ve run in 2011, but I had my wisdom teeth out the week before :( .

3rd Annual McLeod Half-Marathon: 2:08:25 (1st Place Female, 20-29). First half-marathon (and so far, only, but hopefully that will change later this year).

7th Annual Polar Bear 5K:I love this race and I think I’ll do every year. 27:33 (1st Place Female, 25-29)

McLeod Sports Medicine 10K: Second year doing this one… same t-shirt, and didn’t like the dog walk starting during my race.

2nd Annual Race for Taylor 5K: I beat my time from last year by almost 9 minutes. Yay for having healthy blood!

2nd Annual St. Anthony’s Race for the Heroes Memorial Day 5K: 25:32 (1st Place Female, Overall- However, this race did not give overall awards for women, so all 6 overall female winners were recognized as age group winners).

Hot Dam 5K at the Santee Dam (Santee, SC): 27:20 (3rd Place Female, Overall). Most physically and mentally brutal race ever.

Jennifer Bishop Fundraiser 5K (Coward, SC): This race was a benefit for a lady with cancer. It was pretty no frills but I loved it because all the money went to her and her family, and she was there. Always neat to see who you’re running for.

Williamston Park 5K (Darlington, SC): 23:23. 5K PR.

ACS Technologies Run for your Life 5K: My company held a race for employees and their families, and I hope we do this again.

1st Annual Francis Marion University ROTC 5K: 25:36 First “Official” 1st Place Female Overall win.

3rd Annual Camp RAE 5K

Pecan Festival 10K: 50:18 (1st Place Female, 25-29) 10K PR.

Hartsville Turkey Trot 5K

8th Annual Polar Bear 5K

1st Annual Ebenezer Miles for Missions 12K: 1:01:56 (2nd Place Female- Overall). First 12K.

Trinity Collegiate School Titan Trot 5K

1st Annual Run for Brighter Days

Armed Forces Day 5K

3rd Annual Race for Taylor: One of my favorite races and a very moving day for me. This is one race I’ll definitely return to Florence for over and over again!
